What is the difference between fekua and kadhwa?
Both are Banarasi brocade techniques. In fekua the supplementary weft is carried across the full width of the cloth and the unused length is cut away on the reverse once the motif is complete. In kadhwa, each motif is woven separately with no float behind it.
Kadhwa is slower and costlier, and the reverse comes up clean. Neither is better in the abstract — but they are not the same thing, and the price should reflect which one you are buying.
