The Disclosure
What this is. Handwoven on a pit loom in the Varanasi district. Katan silk in warp and weft. Silver-gilt zari in the border and pallu.
What this is not. Not GI-certified — this piece did not come to us through a registered user, so we do not make the claim. Not a kadhwa weave: the motif is fekua, with floats cut on the reverse.

Measured on the same scale for every saree we sell, so two pieces can be compared honestly rather than described poetically.

About this piece
A working Banarasi rather than a museum one: heavy enough to feel like an occasion, not so heavy that it becomes a burden by the fourth hour.
Turn it over and you will see the cut ends of the supplementary weft. That is fekua, and it is priced as such.
